At Nebraska Christian College, we believe that not all learning is done in the classroom.
That’s why we created the Church Serve program to involve our students in the local church from day one. That’s where you come in. There are several ways to get involved in training up the next generation of church leaders, so read on and the fill out the simple form located below to get started. Thank you for partnering with us, we couldn't do this without you. Throughout this process we are here to help and will be available every step of the way.
As a freshman, we ask students to spend 5+ hours a week in a volunteer role for the entire school year. (Think of the student as a volunteer who will become part of your church community!)
The next level, we would call an internship. An internship is often, but not always, for academic credit and can last an entire school year or be over the summer. Interns typically work 10 – 15 hours a week or more during the school year, or full time in the summer.
Finally, we like to see each student be embedded on a church staff for a year (or two), to get a ton of experience, and really get a picture of what it’s like to work at a church full time. Residents are usually paid, and work 25+ or 35+ hours a week, while taking class online, and maybe coming back to campus for an intensive class.
- Provide a mentor/coach under which the student will serve
- Meet with the student once a week for an hour to equip them
- Fill out a short online evaluation mid-semester and end of semester
- Report any unhealthy behavior or problems to your NC contact
If you’d like to get involved, please fill out the short form below and we will be in touch very soon.
