Marilyn work for the Global Outreach Foundation as the Associate Director for Partnership Development.  In this role, Marilyn focuses upon relationships in the Middle East, implementing new strategies for engaging small churches in global mission and in creating new avenues along which women may use their unique gifts in global engagement.  Her wealth of knowledge and experience will help us learn some lessons from around the world.

Carey is the founding and teaching pastor of Connexus Church near Toronto Canada. He also writes a leadership blog, leadership book, and records a leadership podcast.  Through all these avenues, Carey keeps a pulse on not just the current local church, but where the church is headed.  He’ll be sharing those with us as he returns to the Institute.

Sheila is a Founder of Triad Consulting Group and a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School. Sheila is co-author of the New York Times Business Bestsellers “Difficult Conversations”, and “Thanks for the Feedback. : The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well (Even When It’s Off-Base, Unfair, Poorly Delivered and Frankly, You’re Not in the Mood)”.  It’s from this second book she’ll share with us the best practices on receiving feedback and making the most of it.

SUSTAINABLE MINISTRY

Jared is a public speaker and leadership development specialist who is devoted to unlocking potential in leaders so they will discover their strengths, embody their values, and achieve world-changing results. He is the Chief Talent Officer at the YouSchool, a guided coaching program that helps High School and College students develop the self-awareness, self-confidence and self-direction they need to manage life's biggest challenges. Previously he was the High School Pastor at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA. and the team leader for a staff of 15. He’ll be bringing his thoughts on how to build a sustainable ministry through volunteer teams.

We hope that you can join us on campus as our Worship Arts Department "Colors Of Christmas" featuring the Nebraska Christian Worship Arts students performing beautiful solos, rockin' instrumentals, ensembles and choir pieces.  Doors will open one hour before the performance.  Seats are not reserved, so be sure to arrive early for the best seating!

Racial Reconciliation with Dr. Jerry Taylor

Dr. Jerry Taylor will be speaking in Chapel on Friday, October 7 at 11:00 am on Racial Reconciliation. A light lunch will be provided; to be followed at 1:15 pm by a round table discussion led by Dr. Taylor on OUR ROLE IN RACE AND RESTORATION. Other confirmed speakers include Kenny Onatolu, former NFL player with the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers; and David Tollefson, two time super bowl champion with the New York Giants. 

Dr. Jerry Andrew Taylor is an Associate Professor of Bible at Abilene Christian University (ACU), located in Abilene, Texas. Dr. Taylor has successfully designed and taught courses of Jesus: His Life and Teachings, Christianity in Culture, Preaching in African American Congregations, and many others.

Dr. Taylor’s work over the years has centered on resolving racial injustice within institutions and organizations. He combines his Biblical background and work with his extensive knowledge of marginalization to influences organizational change that is inclusive of people of color. This influence can be seen through his creation of the Racial Unity Leadership Summit (RULS), which is a national dialogue and workshop series on ways in which to racially de-segregate churches.  Dr. Taylor also advocates for racial justice by mentoring students and through participating in groups such as the National Association of Black School Educators and the Stone-Campbell Dialogue.
